A bit late to this blogging party…

July 12, 2023

… but it’s been one of those weeks.

I was sent a review copy of Crystal Paine’s newest ebook, Celebrating and Savoring a Simple Christmas. It arrived late in the afternoon after an exhausting day at the children’s hospital with the Striderling’s specialist. Some of the exhaustion came from an error on my end… after two years of keeping appointments, I finally messed up the time of one. We arrived thrilled and happy at 10:40 for our 11 o’clock appointment, only to discover we were supposed to have been there at 10. Ugh. The office was wonderful, though, and squeezed us in as soon as they could, with many apologies for our long wait. really, truly so grateful we fell in with such a nice lot of doctors.

Then the Striderling had to have a leg x-ray, which made the day even longer.

So. I got home and started reading the ebook and thought, “wow. this feels really shoddy.” I decided it must be because I was tired and just went to bed. I woke up to an e-mail from the MSM team saying they’d accidentally sent an earlier draft of the book, not the book itself. OOOOH! That made so much more sense.

And after giving the real book another once-over, I can say: if you’re someone who loves to have things broken down into a neat, orderly to-do list and get overwhelmed coming up with a plan on your own, you will probably love this book.

If you’re someone really comfortable with list-making, I’d say you probably want to spend your money in other places. Crystal does give many wonderful ideas for having a frugal holiday, but so many of them are akin to ones we’ve been sharing here at the CR for years, too. For free, even. 🙂 In fact, I went through and dug up some (but nowhere near to all!) of our old posts to share them with you all…
