Remember those who are in prison… Hebrews 13:3

meriam and new babyI’ve mentioned this before on the blog’s FB page, but we need to keep this in the forefront of our prayers and there are actions we can take.

Dr. Meriam Ibrahim  is married to an American citizen.  She has been imprisoned in Khartoum. She has been sentenced to 100 lashes and death by hanging for marrying a Christian and converting to Christianity- although, from what I understand, she actually didn’t ‘convert’, her father was Muslim, but her mother was Christian and she has always chosen to be a Christian.

The family’s 20-month-old son and newborn daughter (also American citizens) are imprisoned with her.  She was pregnant when sentenced, and she gave birth in chains- truly, with chains on her legs, in prison.

Linny Saunders has posted more information at her blog, A Place Called Simplicity.

Read here as well.

There is a White House petition to sign.  Linny says if a petition has over 100,000 signatures the White House is forced to respond to it.  Anyone 13 and older can participate.  Time is running short- Dr. Meriam Ibrahim is supposed to be lashed 100 times in two weeks.  More about the petition and other ways to speak out here.

More about Meriam’s case here.

UPdated: There is a report that she will be freed, but it’s not confirmed, and she’s not free, so please let this news encourage you NOT to let up on your prayers, fasting, signing of petitions, calling the White House, and passing the info on via whatever platforms you have- friends, emails, FB, twitter, blogs, other social media.
