Insofar as her childhood was ‘ruined’

She has her parents to thank.

She’s eating something on a train (I think) at a table with a rather haphazard dump of various (picnic?) foods, presumably to be shared with other family members.

The children below seem to be sharing a communal dish, not unusual, I believe. They don’t appear malnourished as far as I can tell.

Sorry to be dim, but is there a context story? I couldn’t see a link.

That’s Greta the Climate Guru, who recently announced to the U.N. that her childhood has been ruined, and presumably the western world is to blame for it. Her childhood was ruined by adults who gave her a privileged lifestyle but also handed her a number of very scary, terryfing stories about the world coming to an end at an age she was too young to be burdened with such tales, and when she already was dealing with issues like autism, selective mutism, and anxiety and depression.

OK. but what does the picture of African children have to do with it? (Again, sorry to be obtuse!)

A comparison of her ‘ruined’ life to theirs. She has far more and she’s miserable and they aren’t?
