Nearly 1/3 of Migrant Children Not Related to Adult Claiming Them

There are some limitations here- it’s a new rapid DNA test. I don’t know how effective it is.

It was only used in a couple pilot programs, short term, in just a couple locations.

The report says it’s unclear on whether the test was used randomly on migrant children and the adults accompanying them, of it was only used in situations where the border workers had some specific concerns about specific groups.

That said, it’sa bit more than 30%, though, because some of the adults backed out of the testing and admitted they were not related to the children.

The organization reporting the results says that none of the 30% included actually families who don’t share DNA- such as a step-family, or adoptive family.  30% of adults who illegally crossed the border with children they said were their relatives (because adults with kids get quicker and easier processing) turned out not to have any biological relationship to the kids at all. They were lying.

I blogged about my concerns about children crossing the border and the conditions they were in back when Obama was President.  I am still concerned.  But I am less than impressed, I am utterly disgusted and disbelieving of those who did NOT object when Obama was president, but now are calling the same facilities that Obama built ‘concentration camps.’  I am concerned about adults bringing in children they have no relationship with and lying about being their parents.  Those kids are in trouble and the border policies we have encourage the exploitation of children.
