Listening To….

Tiger JK, a Korean rapper who is works in America, and Jinsu from the group Mad Soul Child, a South Korean electro-house group.

I am in love with both their voices.

The song is the OST for the School 2015 K-drama, featuring a heartbreaking story that includes some truly vicious bullying, the kind only mean girls can do. The bullying is so horrible that the victim, Eun-Bi, attempts suicide.

Eun-Bi has amnesia in the wake of the suicide attempt, and there’s a case of mistaken identity, and she ends up at a new school with a new identity- and a chance few people get to reset. It sounds very cliche, and it kinda is, but they do it pretty well.

This song playing at just the right moments helps sell it. Their voices- I don’t know how to explain it.  Well, I can think of one way, but it doesn’t explain the why.  Their voices resonate with me, and I mean that in a physical way that matches the root of the word resonate, which is a musical and scientific term- resonation.

What is it?

a harmonic phenomenon wherein a formerly passive string or vibratory body responds to external vibrations to which it has a harmonic likeness. The classic example is demonstrated with two similar tuning-forks of which one is mounted on a wooden box. If the other one is struck and then placed on the box, then muted, the un-struck mounted fork will be heard. In similar fashion, strings will respond to the external vibrations of a tuning-fork when sufficient harmonic relations exist between the respective vibratory modes.

I conclude that my soul is tuned so as to have a harmonic likeness to Tiger JK and Jinshil’s voices, because there’s something in my center that throbs in response to their voices.

I have this reaction to other voices, other sounds.  Minor key is a big one,  because anything in a minor key absolutely strikes an irresistible answering chord in the depths of my soul.
The reset theme itself resonates with me as well.   Who hasn’t wanted a reset in life at some point?

I know exactly what you mean — I’m not sure I’ve heard this group before, but I feel just what you do. What a timely post — that song was going through my head just as I opened up my feedly and saw this. I’ve never listened to the song all the way through before. Thanks.
