Free Kindle Classics

chair with red slip-coverThe Lances of Lynwood, by Charlotte Mary Yonge, who wrote excellent historical fiction for children in the Victorian era. This means the language is interesting, complex, and advanced. This book is set in the Middle Ages.

You may also enjoy these free Kindle titles by Yonge:
The Heir of Redclyffe

Unknown to History: a story of the captivity of Mary of Scotland

A Book of Golden Deeds

Other childhood classics not to be missed:
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

Racketty-Packetty House

The Secret Garden

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

Jane Austen, of course, should be in the repertoire of every homeschooled mom and lass, and quite a few homeschooled lads:

Pride and Prejudice

Dickens:

A Tale of Two Cities

Oliver Twist

For Mom, some Grace Livingston Hill, my personal junk food reading:

The Witness

The Enchanted Barn

Cloudy Jewel, one of my favorites, and a little out of the ordinary.

Thanks for posting these great titles! The Heir of Redclyffe is the book Jo cries over in the attic in Little Women when Meg comes to tell her they are invited to a grown-up party. I’ve never read it.
