Better Way to Think, A: Using Positive Thoughts to Change Your Life
by H. Norman Wright
All of us talk to ourselves, carrying on inner dialogues much of the day. Some of this self-talk frees us, but much of it keeps us captive to negative patterns that have a corresponding negative impact on our emotions and actions. But we do not have to remain prisoners of fear, anxiety, despair, disillusionment, regret, or stress!

The bestselling author of A Better Way to Think shows readers how to truly bring every thought captive under Christ, thereby freeing themselves from the negative patterns of self-talk that have stymied their personal and spiritual growth for years. Biblically based and full of practical, proven strategies, this book helps readers harness the positive and creative power of their thought lives in order to experience lasting freedom from negativity.

The Diet Dropout’s Guide to Natural Weight Loss: Find Your Easiest Path to Naturally Thin
This book isn’t about the latest celebrity diet, wonder food, or miracle supplement. It’s about creating a personalized weight loss plan—your own easiest path to naturally thin. While you can lose weight with almost any diet, keeping the weight off is much more difficult, requiring permanent changes in eating and exercise habits. This book provides a science-based approach for making those changes in a way that works best for you, without wasting time, money, or effort.

Dr. Spencer explains why we gain weight and why the fat lost by dieting almost always comes back. He then presents an array of practical weight loss tools for controlling emotional eating, calming cravings, boosting metabolism, and improving nutrition and exercise. In the final chapter he has you create a natural weight loss plan based on your unique set of needs, abilities, and preferences. Simple recipes are provided for weight loss foods that reduce cravings and prolong satisfaction.

What this book offers is a solid approach to weight loss—self-directed, gradual, and lasting—in contrast to the quick but fleeting weight loss offered by most one-size-fits-all diet plans.

Kate’s Kisses (Sweet Treats Bakery)
Billed as Christian fiction, I read just the preview and it looks well written and ridiculously sappy in a way that could be fun, or ridiculously sappy, depending on your tastes. Amazon blurb sez:
Broken dreams…shattered hearts…a special recipe…

Following the tragic, sudden death of her parents, Kate Spencer broke off her engagement from high school sweetheart Logan Daniels, just weeks before their wedding. She chose, instead, to remain in Mount Ridge, Tennessee to raise her younger sisters and help keep the family together. Now, with her sisters grown, she spends her days at family-owned Sweet Treats Bakery, hiding a wounded heart in the sweet confections she creates.

Logan Daniels left town when Kate broke his heart, but now he’s come home to claim what he lost four years ago, and he won’t stop until he gets what he came for…Kate’s kisses.

Call of the Herald (Godsland Series: Book One)

Reviews

“Not too original, but has the bones I like
The coming of age plot where a youngster – here the teenager Catrin — discovers magic powers just in time to save the world, isn’t new. However, it is an appealing plot line and Rathbone’s characters are sweet too. The evil guys are not gory, the unusual alliances are interesting and the landscape is skillfully drawn.
So, I’ll consider the next book if its not too expensive.”

“…kind of like a cross between The Lord of the Rings
and Harry Potter…I honestly could not stop reading this book. I
completed it in two days, it was that good.” Cheryl’s Book Nook – March

“…a bit like
Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, Terry Brooks’ Shannara series, and
Paolini’s Eragon saga rolled into one.” Melissa’s Bookshelf April, 2009
review of The Dawning of Power trilogy

“I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I would recommend this book for all ages.”

And here’s the Amazon review that made me decide to download this title myself:
I have read all the major books on home organization, de-cluttering, and getting rid of “stuff”, but this book really helped me tackle the project that is my closet. When people talk about de-cluttering their life I get overwhelmed. I have a hard time organizing the utensil drawer let alone my entire life! I like that the book was dedicated to just one aspect and went deep into it rather than spreading too thin over the whole topic.

I literally followed the steps for purging my old clothes and I freed up about 1/3 of my closet space. Best of all, now that I know the pain of sorting through all those clothes I will be twice as likely to think twice before buying (or “accumulating”) more clothes that I don’t truly need.

The Secret Dreams of Sarah-Jane Quinn (Harper & Lyttle Series #2)
This is not the sort of book I usually look for, but the reviews for this one are so high that I am taking a chance. here’s one of them:
Sarah Jane Quinn works at Harper and Lyttle in an office full of work cubes. She has lots of dreams and longs, one day, to own the bed and breakfast inn she stayed in as a child. She also yearns to catch the attention of her work-mate, Collie Tate, who she has an enormous crush on. Collie, however, has other priorities. As a single dad his life is dominated by a custody battle for his child which consumes his thoughts and attention. Sarah finds herself way down on his list of concerns. She has a fraught relationship with her family and her sister is always number one in her mother’s eyes. Sarah realises she is only useful at family gatherings to help with the food preparation and the washing up.

It seems, that all her life Sarah has been well down everybody’s list of priorities and one of her biggest dreams is to one day be someone’s number one concern. So, when Gus Haldermann shows a great interest in her, she is flattered and bemused at his attention. She cannot help but find the handsome and charismatic director of Human Resources rather irresistible.

Then one day, Sarah is brutally assaulted at work by a violent stalker. She barely survives the attack and it takes her a long time to recover. During this time she realises she must choose between the two men in her life and re-evaluate her priorities, especially if she is to one day be top of anyone’s list.

All I can say is; I loved, loved, loved, this book! Not only was the story interesting but the characters were so well drawn, by the end of the story I felt as if I worked at Harper & Lyttle with them all myself. The dialogue was spot on, too. If Sharon Gerlach has not had some experience working in an office with cubes, I would be really surprised. She captured the humour, wit and politics of office life so succinctly that it was like listening in over the wall. At times the repartee was laugh out loud funny and I was completely enthralled. I also loved the ending of the story and it did not disappoint.

Frenzied Fiction is a great collection of stories! Sample from “My Revelations as a Spy”:

“Let me speak a moment to the manager,” I said. When he came I beckoned him aside and taking his ear in my hand I breathed two words into it. “Good heavens!” he gasped, while his face turned as pale as ashes. “Is it enough?” I asked. “Can I have a room, or must I breathe again?” “No, no,” said the manager, still trembling. Then, turning to the clerk: “Give this gentleman a room,” he said, “and give him a bath.”

What these two words are that will get a room in New York at once I must not divulge. Even now, when the veil of secrecy is being lifted, the international interests involved are too complicated to permit it. Suffice it to say that if these two had failed I know a couple of others still better.

(I also like The Errors of Santa Claus.)

I had no idea one could read a Kindle book without a Kindle until I read it here! I can now read A Better Way to Think: Using Positive Thoughts to Change Your Life, and have actually started it, in my “Kindle Cloud Reader”. Great book recommendation! And hey, my first Amazon order ever was free! The frugal (cheap?) me says, “Can’t beat that!” :-)
