If The Show You’re Watching….

Includes one or more characters suffering from Amnesia….

Includes one or more characters with a brain tumour or some other incurable cancer…

Includes both of the above….

Has a plot involving a birth secret….

Shows people driving their cars at night with the dome lights on, so you can see their faces….

Includes people secretly spying on other characters from their parked cars, and the spies are parked three feet away from the spied upon…

Features a main character who stops the natural progression of her romance to go to Europe to learn to be a barrista

Several characters who move the plot forward and clue in the viewers by incessantly talking to themselves, sometimes right in front of other characters without the other characters ever hearing or understanding what’s just been said.

Includes a scene where one adult is giving another adult a piggy back ride

Includes overbearing, bossy, nosy mothers-in-law and mean, bratty sisters-in-law who make their son’s/brother’s wife miserable…

has somebody showing that they are working too hard by exhibiting a nose bleed (I really do not get this one)…

is a Rom-Com and there is a 2nd male lead who is super, super sweet while the main male lead is a jerk…

includes somebody being constipated as a topic of conversation…

The kisses are so stiff they look like two mannequins banging their faces together….

shows that a character is angry and/or conflicted by a close up shot of their closed fist…

Shows a character changing his mind by engaging in a sharp U-Turn…

Well, then, You Just Might Be Watching a K-Drama

Shows I am currently watching but haven’t finished yet are described here.

K-Dramas I almost liked– most of these are just darker than I usually prefer. Some are just flawed.

You might be watching a K-Drama if….

Where to get your fix: Sites where you can find subtitled K-dramas (and dramas from other countries, as well. I’ve watched a handful of J-dramas (Japanese) and TW (Taiwanese) dramas, but I vastly prefer the K-dramas, even though I know more Japanese – I got an A in my Japanese 101 class back in the day, when we actually lived in Japan and once I even knew both hiragana and katakana- but still K-dramas interest me vastly more).

Features one character drinking massive amounts of soju, then spilling his/her true feelings regarding/towards reluctant love interest.

    What about…

    – includes scenes of love /potential love interests talking about constipation.

-includes one or more accidental kisses due to one character tripping and falling on the other

The dome lights in the cars drive me nuts. Also people sleeping with the lights on in the bedroom.

We’ve decided that peripheral vision does not exist in Korea (unless the plot calls for it).

But actually, I’m growing fond of all those quirks. I love how the physical restraint actually intensifies the romance.

I am fond of the quirks, too, this is totally an affectionate post. And you are so right about how the physical restraint really ramps up the actual romance. MacKenzie, love your additions.

includes for dramatic scenes when someone is about to leave, includes someone walking a few steps then turning back to glance back or say something else.

Nobody mentioned girls that faint from worry or fatigue. I’ve never seen a KDrama without at least one fainting girl (usually more ) and yet I’ve never known anyone to faint in real life.

I’ve fainted a lot in real life. But I think it was anemia.;-D
