The Time Is Six Tacos Past Discretion

During dinner, an informal affair held in the van on the way home from town, one of my Progeny said to the other Progeny in General:

“Did you know that before you have seconds, you should wait about ten minutes to be sure you are really hungry? That’s because it takes about ten minutes for your stomach to register that it’s full and send that message to your brain.”

Silence, and then another Progeny, who shall remain anonymous but it’s probably not the one you’re thinking of, said:

“Oh. Well, that information came about seven tacos too late.”

Oh dear – yes, I try to remember about the waiting period, especially when I’m eating alone.

I do find that xylitol (for my teeth’s sake) gum helps, keeping my mouth occupied while my tummy has a chance to absorb what it has received.
