1) My friend Anna (friends since high school and fellow history major) has written a lovely fairy story, available here on her blog. Brew a cup of tea, put in some quiet background music, and get swept away for a short bit. It’s the sort of story that will appeal more to older (middle school-adult) readers than small children; the magic in it is not quite what a small child would expect or understand, but an older someone who has been raised with fairy tales will love the further development of the ideas behind them.
2) I posted about this on our Facebook page a few days ago, but I wanted to make a shout out about it here on the blog too. Amazon has a free CD download of soothing music from several different countries/royal courts. It’s got a somewhat bizarre title ~ Sleep Like a Princess, which seems rather rude to all the little princes who fall asleep to the music too, mine own included. I think the music is pretty enough to merit paying for, so I’m immensely thankful for its $0.00 price tag right now.
3) The Baker Creek and Southern Exposure websites and seed catalogues. I’ve been browsing through them, contemplating what to try in our garden next year. So thankful for four seasons and the way winter provides time for reflection over the spring planting!
